Its has been quite a while since WhatsApp plus was introduced. The use of WhatsApp plus is growing ever since. WhatsApp plus is basically a modified version of WhatsApp with a lot more features. WhatsApp plus being a third party app, isn’t available on the Google Play Store. As for any safety issue, there were no signs of user data being misused.

At last, WhatsApp took action against the increasing use of WhatsApp plus. WhatsApp banned users for a day against the violation of terms of service. A cease and desist letter was sent to the WhatsApp plus team from WhatsApp.

Dr. Mounib Al Rifai, owner of WhatsApp plus, announced on Google plus about the shut down of WhatsApp plus

We have received a cease and desist letter from WhatsApp and we are obligated to remove all download links and unfortunately delete this community…Am really sorry for this but it’s out of our hands and WhatsApp has pushed us into a corner that we can’t escape this time..It was a fun ride but it has come to an end..Deepest regards from Rafalense and me and all the whatsapp+ team for your support

Here is an official statement from the WhatsApp team for the WhatsApp plus ban.

WhatsApp Plus is an application that was not developed by WhatsApp, nor is it authorized by WhatsApp. The developers of WhatsApp Plus have no relationship to WhatsApp, and we do not support WhatsApp Plus. Please be aware that WhatsApp Plus contains source code which WhatsApp cannot guarantee as safe and that your private information is potentially being passed to 3rd parties without your knowledge or authorization. Please uninstall your application and install an authorized version of WhatsApp from our website or Google Play. Then, you will be able to use WhatsApp.

Unfortunately, WhatsApp plus development was shut down on 21st January, 2015. There will be no future development or support for WhatsApp plus by the team. A sad day for all those WhatsApp plus lovers. Not just them, it is a sad day for all those developers who made such a great effort improving the WhatsApp experience for us.

After the WhatsApp Plus Ban

This WhatsApp Plus ban has been criticised by WhatsApp plus lovers worldwide. Not that the official messenger is bad, but WhatsApp Plus gave us total control of the application. Not to forget the millions of themes created by contributors worldwide. We can only hope some miracle brings WhatsApp Plus to life again.
